C.A.R. “RED ALERT”

Independent Contractors Mandatory 3% Withholding  

We need your help

This affects you and your business!  

Earlier this week, you should have received a C.A.R. Government Affairs "RED ALERT" opposing a proposal to force those making payments to independent contractors to withhold 3%.  C.A.R. opposes this FORCED OVER WITHHOLDING because it unfairly singles out independent contractors to shoulder the burden of the state's budget troubles and because it fails to address systematic problems in California's budgeting process.  This alert is targeted to those individuals who have Democrat legislators in both Assembly and Senate.  Depending on your district, you may have received two emails.  We ask that you respond to both "RED ALERTS". 

How does it work?

Call the 1-800-number and enter in your individual passcode (Association Member Number) that was provided in the C.A.R. email.  This will allow C.A.R. to track the response rate.  If you have deleted the email, or need assistance, please feel free to email Melissa Bastianon.

NorBAR and your NorBAR Bylaws Committee need your help.  Over the past 10 years, the NorBAR Bylaws have not been changed, except for those items required by C.A.R. and NAR.

The first issue that must be fixed is the issue of "What constitutes a quorum to make policy changes to the Bylaws?"  The voting period on this issue ends on July 30, 2009.
